All 3D models from 'World In Pieces' are built up from one or more NURB surfaces defined by an ultra-fine grid of control points. NURB surfaces guarantee the smoothest surface possible. With this in mind, the files can be optimized by creating your own customized terrain meshes, as smooth as desired. For those who want to get straight to printing or CNC machining, there is also a triangulated stl version included. * Free introduction model: TIBET - full resolution. Click on 'LETOLAB' on top of the page to view the full series. * All available 'World In Pieces' models can be seamlessly combined, since they all share the same origin: The center of the earth located at 0,0,0. One unit in the model stands for 10 km in reality. Countries are cut along country borders, but not along the sea shores to prevent hard edges. Comes with a simplified globe with borders and sea surface.
