He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Saifee Hospital, Tata Memorial etc.

Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W). The following message given by him makes a lot of sense and is important for all of us to know.

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or sleep).

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population..*

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6.* Drink as much of warm liquids as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

A good way to remember our loved ones or not so loved. by TalleyJD

For many years I have been researching different branches of my family. I have a twenty page website on my mothers side and numerous pages on Footnotes.com. With my ankle still a problem, I have been creating pages on different relatives lately. Just finished one today on George Birdwell, my first husbands grandfather, my oldest daughter's great grandfather. He was shot robbing a bank in Boley, Oklahoma on 23rd of Nov 1932. He was Pretty Boy Floyd's right hand man.

But the first one I started with in August of 2007 was my great uncle Arlis Anderson. He was in a bomber in WWII that was shot down over the North Sea.

http://www.footnote.com/page/1588_arlis_anderson_19161943/

I never knew him, but heard about him every Thanksgiving when his sister, my great aunt Velma, would throw herself over the turkey and cry: "How can we be thankful when Arlis isn't here". I thought he should be remember in a better light, so I created a page using letters and post cards I found in my grandmothers desk (which is mine now). If you click on the small photos in the stories, they will enlarge.

There is a link attached to his for my great uncle Phil Daffron who was at Pearl Harbor.

http://www.footnote.com/page/3309_pearl_harbor_survivor_phillip_l/

The two men were friends. Arlis was my grandfathers brother. Phil was my grandmothers brother. Phil came home.

I have been a member of Footnote.com since 07. But they have a lot of information that is free. You can view the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for free among other things. These pages are now free to make. The staff has already made pages using the Social Security Death Index. You can run a search to find your grandparent, uncle, father, etc. Then upload a photo and/or story on their page. If you are interested in history, it's a good place to check out. Happy 4th of July ya'll!

Okay, I admit it, I’m a SHOOTAHOLIC !!!! +Update by TalleyJD

When it comes to Photography I have to admit, I’m hooked. If I step outside to shot my roses or the moon, I find myself uploading at least 200 shots. My computer was getting so full I had to buy a new external hard drive of 1TB. My Pictures folder alone on this puppy is already at 69.9 GB and climbing. I have 26,077 photos in 606 albums. Okay, that is a lot. But we are talking photos of my family here also, going back to about 1998. Only about 5,000 of those were taken since the first of this year.
So, for a Shootaholic like myself there is the perfect program. Picasa 3. First, it’s FREE. Second, it allows you to “TAG” all your shots and put them into as many categories as you want. (This is the only program I found that would do this. If any of you know of another one, I’d like to know.)

I have had a swollen foot since June 1st making it hard to feed my addiction of photography, so I have been sitting here tagging my photos. I can now enter “Clouds” in the search, and 1,906 in 96 albums 5.6 GB pull up. Or “Roses” and 2,684 in 112 albums 9.9 GB. “Buildings” 492 in 21 albums. (Are you getting the picture.)? You can create as many or as few “tags” as you want. Under “Clouds” I double tagged some that had “trees” in them. So when I run a search for..Clouds Trees I get 122 in 13 albums. From now on I can tag my shots shortly after uploading and it's not as time consuming. So, for those of you starting out in Photography this can be a very useful program. Give it a try.

**UPDATE***

I forgot to mention the Folder Manager. It is found under Tools. It allows you to select or deselect the folders you want the program to scan. And if you want it to Scan Once or Always Scan. I selected Always scan on the MY PICTURES folder. That way it keeps it up to date.

I don't know if you can read this, but the desktop looks like this.

I'm not really familiar with any of the 3D programs and how your models are stored, but it might work with those also. If anyone tries it, let us know.

Finally, another neat feature is allowing you to make a Picture Collage. That would come in handy when setting up a Collection Product.

Things to have when zombies attack!!!!!! by TalleyJD

Okay, somewhere on facebook they ask this question: Things to have when zombies attack!!!

After thinking long and hard, I had to choose the following (5):

My Sony A350 DSLR,

My Xbox 360,

Wine Opener,

wine (I am over 21)

and a Uzi.

What would you choose????

I gota crow..... by TalleyJD

I'm sure some of you are too young to know where that comes from. Anyway I have been chasing a crow all over trying to get a snap shot of him. Well I caught him on the roof across the alley, but the photos were not good. I have been playing with Photoscape and some of it's effects. Thought this guy would look good as a vintage or antique

You usually have to create a separate sub-folder under your applications folder called “plugins”. You install the plugins to this folder, then tell your program where to find them, usually in “Fill>Preference”. They will then show up under the “Effect” tab. Gimp will also interact with some of the PS plugins out there. Check it out: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

For a photo manager and editing program, I use Picasa 3, free from Google:

http://picasa.google.com

This program rocks. It will scan your computer for all photos and put them in nice little folders. (You can tell it not to scan certain areas if needed) I find it easier to work with on basic photo editing. I love their “straighten” tool and “I’m feeling lucky” button. The only thing missing for me in this program is noise reduction. If they get that, it will really be cool. (I sent an e-mail requesting it J)

Paint.net is another free editing program. I have it, but have never used it. I do know some who do and like it. It has a noise reduction built in and other cool effects and features. Try it and see if it suits you.

PhotoScape is another free program that I have installed and don’t use. But that’s not saying it’s not a good program. It might be the one you like. It will work with RAW prints and convert to JPG, so that’s a cool feature. ** I just downloaded an update to this program. It has a lot of good features, so check it out, it’s free!**

Programs under $100.

My favorite is Corel PaintShop Pro. I use this one the most. It will interact with a lot of the PS plugins, in fact most developers make theirs to work with PSP also. I like this user friendly program. I got mine for about $54 on Amazon.com, but it was a special and gone now. Runs around $99. But you can shop for a good price online. Download a free 30 trial.

I’m also using Corel PhotoImpact X3. Another cool program and recently purchased for 39.99 on a special. You can also download a 30 day free trial. These two programs are a lot alike.

These are ones I have used or downloaded. There are many more out there. Run a search for free editing software and let me know of any neat ones you find. I'm always looking for a good buy or better yet, FREE!!!!

Happy Blog by TalleyJD

Hello to all,

After a short trip up to Kansas for my husband's mother's funeral and back (driving as fast as we could ahead of storms and tornadoes) I have deleted my post complaining about the CC companies. I want to think Happy thoughts. I would like to look forward to the rest of the year with a positive outlook. I am glad to have found a site to sell my photography that makes me feel at home (I am such a serious gamer) and has so many nice and caring people. With all that's bad in this world, I feel that I am very blessed with my family, friends and health.

My rose garden has been blooming like crazy since I got back. I have about 81 rose bushes. 55 are miniatures. I have posted a few today and will work on posting more.

On the trip to Kansas, I entertained myself by taking photos while my husband drove. I took over 1,000. Hope to have some good ones. I always review every photo I take at 100% to check for flaws and correct any problems like color, noise, sharpness etc. I also like to play around with different photo effect. The ones I really like I upload, but I state in the comments that I used an effect. Check out my gold sky. Took some on a farm where my sister-in-law and her husband collect Studebakers and are getting ready to sell off the junkers in an auction this summer. So stay tuned.

In the beginning I was pricing my photos by size. The larger files more than the smaller. I have since started charging the same price on all, except if it's very small, then I cut the price. The price of my photos has nothing to do with the quality.

Now where was I ...Oh yea...Photo number 45, 46, 47.........

Beatlemania by TalleyJD

I received an email today from GameStop. The top article was about the new The Beatles: Rock Band.

"Most of us remember the first time we heard The Beatles. This fall we'll have the chance to experience what it was like to actually be one of the Fab Four with The Beatles: Rock Band, which takes players on a journey through the band’s legendary career. We've just learned that the Limited Edition Premium Bundle will include The Beatles: Rock Band software; a Höfner Bass controller; The Beatles-inspired and Ludwig-branded Rock Band drums with classic pearl finish, a metal kick pedal and a vintage replica drumhead; plus a microphone with stand, as well as additional special content."

Flash back. September 18, 1964. I was about to turn 14 in two days. We are at our friends house and their dad, a Dallas Police officer calls. He is working the Beatles concert that night and did his wife and kids want to come. He could get them in free. His wife wasn't interested, but my mom said she'd go and take all us kids. (me, the oldest, my sister and his daughter, both three years younger than me.) So we headed over to the Memorial Coliseum downtown. Went to the entrance he told us to, told the officer there we were the officers family and they slipped us under the barricade. He was waiting for us inside. He put us in a spot right below the stage and told us to stay there. Since we were standing, Mom found a place near there against a wall and there we stayed, much to our regret later. He came to find us right before the concert was over, but couldn't. He was going to take us back stage to meet the guys as they came off stage, who he was escorting out of the building. Bummer! But that night changed all of us. The Beatlemania was contagious. We went in barely liking these long haired weirdos and came out in tears, madly in love. Even my mom. I still have their albums. The first one Meet the Beatles, the White Album, Revolver, Abby Road, Magical Mystery Tour, St. Peppers, around a dozen I think.

It should be interesting to see what this new game is like and how well it's received by the gaming community and my nine year old grandson.

Hello to All from Max and I by TalleyJD

Max likes long walks in the woods, having his belly scratched and standing on the steps of the shallow end of the pool and drinking the water. He's not into RPG but likes fashion. He likes to sniff my shoes when I'm putting them on, because if it's the tennis shoes ..that might mean....WALK . Max needs to lose a little.. he's at 110.

Max is a Heartworm Survivor of three (3) years. To treat heartworm, they use Arsenic. We had to keep him quit for eight (8) weeks. The only way to do this was to bring him inside..and he loved it.
