First I tried creating them from photos taken with my camera and resizing them in Photoshop and that got rejected. Then I tried taking one of those photos and doing a live trace in Illustrator and that got rejected as well. Here is the image that got rejected:

Please keep in mind that I have resized all the images for the web. The reason I was given for the rejection was "Composition / Quality – Limited commercial value or market appeal due to quality, framing, rotation, cropping or composition." I don't know what else to do.

Would anyone know if either of the following two would be rejected as well?

Note that I am not planning on selling these at all just examples of what I hope I can do and not get them rejected again. The first one I drew then scanned into Photoshop then opened it in Illustrator to trace it and then put it back into Photoshop to add color, highlights and shadows and the background. The second one I created some quick models in Gmax and added textures to them (not very fancy but it was the only way I could get them to render) and lights and then rendered them out in an open-source renderer called Yafaray and then put into Photoshop to do some minor treaking to the levels. If something like either of those two is going to be rejected then I should not even be thinking about stock photos or images. I feel really worthless at the moment like I can't do anything right. Please let me know of your thoughts. After I reinstall the operating system, I will have 3ds Max installed on my computer ( a legal copy even and I didn't have to pay for it).

Life of a Cyclist by Thommy-g

Sometime last week, I was doing some errands between the house and Tomball and someone had attempted to throw a glass bottle at me. Thank God it didn't hit me. A few minutes later, someone in the passenger side of a car said a few choice words which I don't care to repeat here (to give you a clue, one of the words began with the letter "F" and it rhymes with "duck", that is as far as I am going as I don't feel that the word is appropriate for this site or community). I just wish that some people would just try to understand what those of us who depend on bicycles for transportation have to go through. When it is hot outside, we have to put up with the heat (which in Houston can get up to about 100 degrees or higher) and when it is cold, we are freezing our butts off. I am not going to get started on when it rains and we are unprepared (to give you an idea, we get wet and sometimes cannot see the road). The next time you just happen to see someone riding a bicycle, please keep these words in mind and try to show compassion for them. I know one day, I will have a car, truck, or van (preferably the latter) and I will too remember what I had to go through riding a bicycle. I would really appreciate it. Oh and feel free to comment as I do read them and most often I will approve the comment. Thank you for reading. I hope to write about new products soon.

Who am I by Thommy-g

Who am I
Just a soul that doesn’t belong
Who am I
Just a soul that can’t be killed
Who am I
Just a soul without a home
Who am I
Just a lost soul that can’t be tamed

I decided to start off with some lyrics I had wrote some time back to introduce this. I am Thommy. I'm currently working on my bachelor's degree in Game Design with focus on art (I got frustrated with programming when I took AI Programming). I currently live in Hockley, TX which is just outside of Houston. Other than that, I really enjoy music (listening, playing, and composing), playing video games, watching anime, drawing, working with audio, video, Photoshop, and 3D models on the computer. Music was really my first love then comic books, then video games, and now computers (though I'm not really much into comic books as much anymore, but then again, I would have a lot of money right now if my mother had not thrown away my comic book collection that I had when I was a kid). Well, what I would love to do more than anything (besides getting married and starting a family) is after I get my bachelor's degree, move to Austin and work for a game studio there. I haven't done much research yet but I do have time for that. That is all I can think of at the moment. Oh, I am trying to quit smoking so I may not have very many products (at least what I had planned anyway) for a while so I can relearn how to do everything without a cigarette (I still remember those commercials when the guy was trying to drive his car and it mentioned when you can learn to drive without a cigarette you can do anything or something to that nature). Oh, by the way, I almost forgot, I am a born-again Christian looking to God and Jesus in everything that I do and I have been spending time reading the Bible and watching Christian television (pretty much the only live action TV I watch anymore when I'm at home in front of my television). I think that is enough to get everyone started on who I am. I look forward to having more products and blog entries in 2010 and beyond.

It wasn't a good year for me at all. I did get my associate's degree in Game Design (with focus on art and programming) but that seems to be the only good thing, other than the fact that I have rededicated my life to God and Jesus (which I'm going full force as of 2010).

I did everything but destroy the first bicycle I had (thank God I didn't have to go to the hospital but the bicycle will never be the same) by carrying some clothes I needed for a class and running late and the clothes got caught between the fork and the front wheel and caused me to flip over. I had trouble sleeping the next few days because my arm was slightly torn (only the skin) and I had to get another bike or get a fork so I opted for the bike since I was able to get it sooner so I can keep going to class.

I took a leap and started looking for love online. That turned out to be a huge mistake as I had gotten scammed by someone who was "stuck" (I put it quotes because I'm not really sure if that person was really stuck there or not) in Lagos, Nigeria. I'm almost totally giving that option up for the new year, just a few sites but I'll look locally as well (I will let God lead the way). In the process, I had lost my bank account as well as my GameCube (and games that were in my possession at the time and the Game Boy Player that was attached to it), Xbox (and games), and some DVDs. I have since started recollecting everything that I lost and I am making a point in the new year to continue regaining what was lost to the scammer (personal note, let it go, let it go).

Oh, I was suffering from depression again in 2009. It wasn't this bad since 2006 just before my mother died (which made it worse that year). Instead of entertaining thoughts of taking my own life, I had sought out God for help. So far it seems to be helping as I am really looking forward to a prosperous 2010.

On that note, I do hope to have some sales of my products (I'm working on some which I will resume either Friday or Saturday), maybe getting either a part-time or full-time job (doesn't really matter as long as I get a paycheck), a better vehicle, and that one girl that God had put in this world just for me.

I hope that everyone in the 3D Studio community have a happy, safe, healthy, and prosperous new year and may God bless each and every one of you with plenty of sales for your products.

Making photos larger in Photoshop by Thommy-g

Yeah, I have a few photos from my camera that I would love to sell as stock photography. The only problem is that my camera has a limit of 352 by 288 (and that is the high resolution photos). I do have Photoshop CS3 installed on my computer (I got it as part of a suite, the Design Premium to be exact) and I was wondering if there was any way to resize them in Photoshop and still have them look just as crisp as the original photos. Any help would be appreciated. I'll take web site tutorials if you can find any. Oh by the way, I also have Gimp installed on my computer as well if you think that might be better for the job. And yes, I'm looking to make them bigger without sacrificing the quality of the photos. Any suggestions?

Tutorials or Roughing It by Thommy-g

I have a question to all of the 3D modelers out there. When you first started creating original 3D models, did you use tutorials or did you figure it all out by yourself? If you did use tutorials, are you selling them or just giving them away? I'm still fairly new to 3D modeling (I've only been working with 3D models for just about 2 years off and on) and the first character that I created was a disaster, though lately I've been getting better at it and I'm still looking for that right method to create characters as well as other types of models. For the most part I've only gone by the tutorials to get the A to B to C while using my own blueprints as so I can create original characters in programs like 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, and Gmax. Though I don't have much experience with Maya (I only have the PLE 8.5 installed on my computer and I could use a lot of tutorials just to learn that program), I do have extensive experience with 3ds Max, Blender and Gmax (which for those who are familiar with it, its interface is similar to 3ds Max but without the rendering capability). I was just wondering as I get more experience with the software and the methods so I can model with only the blueprints as my guide. I welcome any and all comments. Thank you for reading.

Game Music by Thommy-g

I'm working on some game music for various types of games. I would like everyone to have input on what types of game music they would like to see. Please post your comments here. I'm planning to have a example done completely in Game Maker that features three pieces (one per level) to show what can be done with them and I will have a few of them available for free (but it will only be two pieces, two of which will be in the Game Maker example). I'm not going to have a wav format available for it as it would be too big to upload (even on a high-speed connection) and it would make the game file size huge as well. On the one I'm planning on selling, it will feature 15 to 20 pieces. I will look into any and all ideas within the limitations of equipment and software. I think this would be huge for everyone, please let me know what you think. Thank you for reading.

Advice and suggestions for sound effects and textures by Thommy-g

I'm just wondering, does anyone have any suggestions for future sound effects and/or textures? With those two, I'm trying to focus on what is not available or those that are in great need. I'm open to any and all suggestions. With sound effects, the primary program is Audacity (don't particularly care for Sound Forge and I don't have Soundbooth yet). With textures, I'll use Photoshop or Gimp, whichever has the filters I need for that particular texture. With these two areas, I'm here to fulfill a need. I thank you for taking the time to read this and to offer any suggestions you may have. By the way, the sound effects don't have to be limited to what I can do with my keyboard as I have a mp3 player that can record in wav format, which I can just copy the files over onto my hard drive. I also have a digital camera that can take photos up to 352 x 288 and depending on the format it would either be 25 ppi or 72 ppi (I try to remember to save them in jpeg format). Again, thanks for reading and offering suggestions.

New Product - Cartoon Sounds by Thommy-g

I created a new product and made it available on the site called Cartoon Walking. Basically, what I did was literally let my fingers do the walking. There are a total of three sound files, one for a low range, one for a mid-range, and one for high range. I'm not giving a sample of it away, though in the future I may have some free ones just to be nice. I hope they can be useful. As always, your comments are welcomed here and on the product page. The image thing I know I need to work on as I've been lazily creating images in Illustrator (I'm still using CS3 at the moment). I hope that everyone can find it useful and I will have more products available in the near future.

I finally have a website by Thommy-g

I have been wanting a web site for quite a while, but I didn't know how to go about it. I finally have one on the Web. Here is the link: http://thommyg.blackapplehost.com/ . I don't have much up right now, but this weekend I'll add some pages and some images of stuff I have done (but not for sale as of yet, but I'm planning on advertising on there as well). I don't want the site to be a secret to anyone, but I'm announcing it here first. I'll post comments when I have updated the site. I'm creating it in Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 which I have installed on my computer and I'm taking a class using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 which at this time I don't have installed. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions, comments, or even questions, please feel free to post it here as I will be glad to read what you have to say. Oh by the way, I'm slowly learning HTML by using Dreamweaver, I just wanted to mention that so please do not get too technical about it. Have a nice day everyone.

Hello everyone by Thommy-g

Let me go ahead and formally introduce myself. I'm Thommy and I started selling some of my audio resources on the site. I'm an exclusive seller on the3DStudio.com (decided on that after I read some posts in another blog). I'm planning on selling sound effects, 3D models, and textures on the site. On the audio and texture front, I want to focus exclusively on what is not available on this site, but on the 3D model side, I want to create whatever I and God want me to create. Something else, I've been trying to get right with God as now I desire to serve him in whatever way he wants me to and I truly believe that creating some of this stuff will bring glory and honor to God. I know some people have been downloading the free car sound effect sample that I offer, but I also have a set that can be purchased that includes two of each effect. I also have an original composition that I wrote for piano with a 30-second preview so you can preview it and see if it can be useful in your projects. I would love for you to check them out and let me know what you think and please be honest (even if you insult me) as I would love to know if I'm doing anything wrong or if I'm doing everything right. I'll post a new blog whenever I have a new resource available so you can check it out. Please let me know what you think in the comments section of this post. Thank you for reading.

Is it possible to make a living selling resources? by Thommy-g

I am just wondering if it's possible to make a living just by selling resources or at least work my way through school by selling resources. I am interested in hearing what other members have to say which is why I'm starting this blog. I have not had a job in over 4 years and I had been thinking since I became a member of this site and this is the only site I'm going to be selling my resources on by the way that maybe this would be a good way to get some money. I'll be waiting for any and all comments from other members. For now, I'm going to treat this as if it was a job.

Welcome to your new blog at The3dStudio.com by Thommy-g

You have finished creating your blog at The3dStudio.com!

You can now begin customizing your blog theme, changing fonts and colors, or just start posting to your blog.
