New Stock Photo Sub-Categories for "People"
Posted on Thursday, May 06, 2010 by Lisa @ The3dStudio.com
At our weekly meeting this week, five of us spent some time reviewing the stock photo category "People". We brainstormed new sub-categories. You can now find Groups/Crowds, Food Workers, Workers/Trades, Pregnancy, Military/Municipal, and other new sub-categories.
Please check them out and let us know what you think.
Texture Categories??
Posted on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 by Lisa @ The3dStudio.com
We are starting to review the Textures categories and sub-categories as we continue working to improve things here at The3dStudio.com.
If you are a seller or buyer of Textures and you'd like to suggest additional categories, or changes you want to see in our current categories, please email me at lisa@the3dstudio.com.
Recently we added new categories in 3D Models and then we switched products into the new categories. It was a big job but worthwhile. We are confident that doing the same thing in Textures will be worth our time and effort and will result in increased sales.
As always, we are eager to hear any ideas or input from our Members, about Texture categories or other matters.
Feverpitch's Photo Used in Magazine
Posted on Wednesday, February 03, 2010 by Lisa @ The3dStudio.com
It’s always nice to see the work of one of our The3dStudio.com sellers being used commercially. I was reading a magazine yesterday (Spirituality & Health) and I was thrilled to see a photo taken by The3dStudio.com member, Feverpitch on page 27 of the magazine. The photo is not currently in the collection here, though others from that same photo session are here on our site. But even though the stock photo was bought elsewhere, it’s still exciting to see one of our members' stock photos in print.
Congrats, Feverpitch! It’s a great photo. The title of the article is “Smile as You Read This” and I certainly did smile when I recognized it as your stock photo.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all Members of The3dStudio.com!
I really enjoy seeing all your 3d models, stock photos, stock images and other resources. And I like getting to know more about you through your blog posts or when you email me directly. I hope more of you will start blogging and that you all will include some personal info in your blog posts so we can expand our feelings of community and friendship that way.
After hearing the weather reports for other parts of the US, we are all glad to be here in Arizona, where we have much better weather, instead of the ice and snow we remember from our years of living in Chicago. The best part of our life here is that we are all together, not just at the holidays, but all the time. Yesterday we had a nice family dinner for Christmas Eve and we will have another tonight. Cooked outside on the BBQ grill of course!
But even during our family holiday celebrations, "business" and 3d models and stock photos are still on our minds. What's happening at The3dStudio.com is always part of the discussion when we are together, whether we are brainstorming ways to improve the website or discussing some of the great new products that were added that day. Yesterday Tracy pointed out a stock photo on a Christmas card I had received. She said we have the same or a very similar stock image among the products on The3dStudio.com that she remembers seeing while she was reviewing stock photos. Russ was impressed by some 3d models of old time bumper cars.
I hope Santa Claus brings many good things to all of you for Christmas, including many more sales of your products in 2010!
Happy Holidays,
Lisa
Your Input is Welcomed!

At this week's team meeting, we discussed the changes to our home page which you likely have already seen, to add a bit of color now that Matt has expanded the page width. We also want to expand and improve our categories, especially in the stock photo / stock image area. This is an area where you all can help.
Many of our 3D modelers know they can suggest additional subject categories when they feel the current categories aren't a great fit for their products and they know we will listen to their suggestions. We hope the stock photographers and stock image artists will suggest categories or sub-categories for their works if they think changes are needed. We all want to see sales and helping customers find products by having accurate and descriptive categories is one way to do that. All members can assist in improving The3dStudio.com.
Also, please keep in mind that using a sub-category is OPTIONAL--it is NOT required! We contacted a few members who picked sub-categories that didn't quite fit their products, and it seems they thought they were required to pick main and sub-categories. NOT TRUE--but, if you want to suggest sub-categories, we would like to hear your suggestions! Please email me with any ideas for new categories or sub-categories: lisa@the3dstudio.com. You can also comment here if you wish, but please also shoot me an email as well so your comment doesn't get overlooked.
We probably won't add a lot of new categories or sub-categories immediately for just 2 or 3 products, but we will keep track of things and will add them as needed. In any event, we are eager to hear any suggestions you want to make, and we will consider everything. Adding stock photos as a category came about as a result of members' requests and that category is growing by leaps and bounds as you all know, so if there is another great idea out there, please share it now!
